Two prominent dust lanes also cut through the galaxy's bar
It is also called the "Cigar Galaxy" because of the elliptical shape produced by the oblique tilt of its starry disk relative to our line of sight

Milkyway arc crab nebula Two prominent dust lanes alsoThis picture was taken on the "Pico de la Cruz" on La Palma. You can see me with my camera under the starry sky. Very clearly to see is the arc of the Milky Way which stretches beautifully across the sky. In the distance is also still tenerife to recognize and you can see impressively the influence of its light pollution. La Palma is much better positioned and offers a better view of the stars!
